Affirming your Dreams: Using Affirmation Tools

Affirmation is a tool that can propel your life toward increased happiness and prosperity.

Affirmations are used by some people to "program their subconscious mind" into doing what they want it to do.

The affirmations may be partially effective with this approach, but your subconscious mind does not cooperate with you to the extent that you wish when you treat this part of yourself as "a powerful, but stupid servant."

As new technology comes along, self-help marketers tend to apply the latest gadgetry as a metaphor for the subconscious mind. Of course, this is a never ending process because:

  • The term "subconscious" is a catch all for many mental and emotional processes that are not conscious
  • Some observed improvements in our lives come from intuition, intellect, or soul consciousness
  • Some observed improvements in our lives are the result of karma from past lives, rather than application of the repetition of words in this life
  • There is a tendencies to believe that repeated words hold some sort of magic

Just repeating words is a fallacy that masks the reality that while our universe does seem to conform to our language about it, as if trying to please us in our experiments of living; the universe is not explained, controlled or encapsulated by our language.

Life Improvements from Affirmation

The thinking, reasoning and intellectual power of our soul surpasses any level of awareness that our conscious mind can achieve. What our dreams do is provide streams of information and awareness from many levels. It is our conscious mind's job to sort these streams out.

When we use the dream information to clean up our thoughts and emotions, and when we use meditation practice to still our mind and body; the thoughts and influences of our soul can seep through.

Ordinary life is similar to a cloudy, foggy day. Ordinary dreams would be like people, things and events popping at us seemingly out of the fog. However, as we work with dreams

Comparing Affirmation and Self-Talk

Some people use affirmations to counteract the negative effects of negative self-talk.

The relationship of affirmation and self-talk is complex.

Affirmation that is just an attempt to "reprogram" your beliefs for success does not create the results that you desire.

Just repeating a phrase, sort of like trying to memorize something, in hopes of changing your life is only marginally effective.

Let's say that you want to convince yourself that you are a super used-car salesman. Just repeating the phrase, "The next person through the door is compelled to buy from me" will not move this person to the dealership's "Million Dollar Producers Club."

What happens is that internal processes and internal censors react to the repeated message in different ways.

It is useful to think of this process as if these were different people, a committee, within ourselves. Until this internal "committee" can reach consensus, no change will occur.

For example, one member of the committee has the job of protecting the person from self-damaging information...the person's defense mechanism.

The defense mechanism has control that functions much like the time delay on a call in radio program. The delay is 1/36 of a second.

When you affirm your dreams, you ensure that you take care of all parts of yourself, and you ensure that your life comes into balance. Take a cue from how your dreams alternate between themes, how your dreams deal with one theme until you get the message, then move on to a new theme. Notice that your dreams alternate between what is important. Notice how your dreams prompt and encourage you to make finer improvements and more precise refinements until you get your life in order.

Uses of Affirmations

Some useful uses of affirmations to align your thoughts to positive words include:

  • Speak thought that indicate that your are "Amazed" at your Vast Powers of mind and spirit
  • Repeat truths that acknowledge the everything in the Universe operates under a Divine Plan in meticulous order
  • Rehearse using metaphors and figures of speech to communicate spiritual truths and dream realities
  • Recite your belief that all events and benefits in your life arrive with precise Divine timing that is for the benefit of all
  • Acknowledge that you are in the correct place that you need to be for living your life of dreams
  • Claim that you are moving, improving, learning by focusing in the right direction, and by making small adjustments to your course as you go along.

These are some of the ways that affirming your dreams makes the realization of your dreams a reality.

Your study of your dreams will provide the insight for how to use affirmations more effectively.
